At 11:30EDT today, Arsenal FC will meet Aston Villa FC in the final match of the 2014-2015 FA Cup competition. The winner goes home with the silverware. Arsenal returns to Wembley Stadium, across town from their North London home at Emirates Stadium, and Villa travels down to London from Birmingham. Arsenal are defending the cup, having won it last year, when they defeated Hull City.

The FA Cup has a long and distinguished history, being the oldest domestic cup competition in the World. This photo is from the 1914 final match. Burnley FC received the Cup from HM King George V, at Crystal Palace in London. The FA Cup competition was already 42 years old when Burnley won. now, 101 years later, English football is still at it.

The US has its own domestic cup competition, the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. While the US cup doesn’t have the longevity of the FA Cup, the US Open Cup is nonetheless an exciting competition!
