The Dauphine streetcar line later changed its name to St. Claude. Dauphine Streetcar Line The New Orleans City Railroad Company (NOCRR) opened the Canal and Esplanade streetcar lines in April of 1861. They expanded streetcar service to the "down river" side of Canal Street. By July of 1861, the company inaugurated the Dauphine line. The line originally bore the name "Rampart and Dauphine."
