Today's rabbit hole is an ad for a "Elliot's Pocket Revolver." Elliot's Pocket Revolver Ad for "Elliot's Pocket Revolver" in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, 17-May-1862. This pistol also bore the name, Remington Zig-Zag Derringer. Remington manufactured this pistol in 1861 and 1862. It's a type of pistol known as a "pepper-box."
